Give: Mental Health Awareness Week 2023

The focus for Tuesday 19th September for Mental Health Awareness Week is: Give.

👏Giving has benefits for the recviever and the giver. Humans have a biological drive to connect and support others. Back in the time of cave people, being part of the group was important for survival. Therefore our biology rewarded behaviours that kept us connected with others. When we give, we tap into our own biological reward system and get the benefits of feel good hormones. 🎉 Those we give too also feel good; and often want to share that goodness with others, creating a ripple effect of kindness. 💗

💐Giving can take many forms; like giving our time, giving a smile or a compliment, giving our knowledge, sharing a talent or giving back to the environment.

🔹It pays keep a 2023 reality in mind when we give; ensuring we are also giving time, space and kindness to ourselves. *Often I work with people who are wonderful at giving to others, but struggle to prioritise their own needs. Finding the sweet spot in how and what we give can be a process!

🍞Breadmaking is one of my joys; I love the the making, baking and consuming. I also love giving a focaccia warm out of the oven to friends and family. 💫
